World Action for Women’s Health Day

Development Through Media Marks World Action for Women’s Health Day, 28th May 2026 – Nairobi, Kenya

As the world marks World Action for Women’s Health Day on 28th May 2026, Development Through Media (DTM) calls for renewed commitment toward strengthening women’s health systems and protecting the dignity and wellbeing of women and girls.

DTM notes that many women, especially in marginalized communities, continue to face challenges related to maternal health, teenage pregnancies, gender-based violence, poverty, and limited access to reproductive healthcare services.

The organization emphasizes that women’s health is not only a medical issue, but also a social justice and development concern requiring collective action from government, civil society, communities, and the media.

Development Through Media further calls for:

  • Improved access to reproductive and maternal healthcare
  • Greater investment in girl child education
  • Strengthened community health systems
  • Increased awareness on women’s mental health and reproductive rights, and
  • Enhanced youth-friendly health services.

DTM remains committed to using media and community engagement to amplify conversations that promote health equity, dignity, and social transformation.

Ms Dommie Yambo-Odotte,
Executive Director and Producer
