About this Episode.

In the Beginning, somewhere in 2016, there was Ziki with an idea for a radio programme to showcase the African art and design journey. Then in late 2017, a chance meeting with Eve propelled the discussions further into the IT realm and voila the idea for the African Women in Tech and Design (AWiTaD) Podcast reared its beautiful head with Ziki and Eve as the hosts.
In this episode, we get to “know the hosts”; how Ziki, a graduate of Computer Science from the University of Nairobi was at one time so feeling “this need to do something with my hands” that she felt compelled to venture into the world of design. Perhaps testimony to the fact that IT has an inclination towards Design or is it the other way round? Ziki eventually founded her own brand; AfroFanatic, a design company that makes clothes and pre-tied head wraps.
And then of course, there is Eve, who after securing a degree in Biomaterial Science and Tissue Engineering, and working briefly as a research scientist, moved on to do a Masters degree in Information Technology. Eve later co-founded Speedy Legal, an online platform for start-ups in need of legal services to help set up their businesses.
Update on the Hosts:
Eve could only be available for the first episode before another assignment took her out of Nairobi. Thus, she won’t co-host the remaining episodes in this inaugural season a situation we hope may change in the future.
